Although I'd heard a lot of good things about this chain, I'd avoided it because I'd also heard comments about it being too small and lacking name brands. I've made my first two trips there in recent days and I love this quirky little place.
It's true that you bag your own groceries. It's true that if you don't bring your own bags, they charge you for theirs. It's true that you put down a 25c deposit on your cart, but there are good reasons for these things. (their FAQ is interesting)
The aisles aren't as marked as well as most stores, but the store is small. It's easy to navigate because the islands are no more than head high. When you're in an aisle you don't feel like you're at the bottom of a canyon. There's no place where you can't see all four walls of the store.
Most of the products are store brands, but I did see some name brands like on candy and Coke products. There's no video store, bank branch, or waterslide; just really good prices and a very comfortable environment. read more
