The movers caused visible damage to the concrete floors in our new apartment by dragging a heavy coffee table instead of lifting it. The scratches and gouges are extensive and will require professional repair. When we raised the issue, the crew argued with us on-site for nearly 30 minutes, denying responsibility even though the damage clearly matched the timing and path of the move. One of them even tried to blame a "communication barrier" as if that excused the carelessness. Instead of owning the mistake, they became defensive and dismissive. We later confirmed that the company's insurance policy should cover property damage like this, as required under California law. Yet even with that information in hand, they refused to take accountability or initiate a claim. It's shocking for a licensed moving company to behave this way when trust and professionalism are the bare minimum.
