We asked a local for their recommendation of a restaurant that shows off local produce. She proudly recommended us to Almosta - even handing over their business card which she keeps in her wallet.
The first night we arrived and could not get a table as they have two set service times; the 8:30pm and 10:30pm - we booked for the following night.
As 8:30 approached we found ourselves twiddling our thumbs eager to get to the restaurant and see what this little gem had to offer.
You can tell we aren't Spanish as bang on 8:30 we arrived to the restaurant and found ourselves the only ones.... This was a blessing in disguise as it meant we had the host all to ourselves to which he translated EVERY dish on the menu and talked us trough the various wines they had available.
We tried quite a few of the dishes including my favourite - the pop roquer, a large piece of succulent octopus served on a bed of mashed potatoes.
I also enjoyed the Durham cat which was a thin wrap of spinach, pine nuts and cheese.
Everything we ordered was immaculately presented, with tastes to match - my only issue was that it ended ;)
