I was encouraged to stay in the area while in Tacoma. I was led to believe there were fire places and maybe a hot tub somewhere, and that the Snorting Elk cellar was close by. While in the Alpine Inn I used the house-phone to reserve a room between runs. Somehow I got this place. I was immediately disappointed. I usually keep my room chilly, but I was freezing in this room. The hot-water was good and plenty, so I compensated with the shower to heat the room. Several of the fixtures were broken/inop. The bathroom bulb the lamp. At check-in I was told that breakfast was included; you would think so at $205 a night (w tax). Its not. Thats another $13.00 at the Alpine Inn. The Snorting Elk Cellar is walking distance away. But that will only take you so far. There was a discarded or lost jacket on the balcony, theres no telling how long it has been there. I agree with the earlier post, that this is like a student hostel. No pool, no amenities but at a price I have rarely paid. The lift is a few minutes walk away (+). I'd recommend going down the hill and securing other lodging options and bulldozing this place. read more
