Alpine Slopes is a great place for beginners to learn the basics. It's also good for those who know what they're doing, but to improve their skills and technique.
I would suggest that you bring your own helmet and boots. However, if you don't have your own gear, they provide everything you need. You must use their snowboards and skis since they use a special wax on the underside of the equipment. Keep in mind you're skiing/snowboarding on a rotating carpet-like surface (there are two). It's like a giant treadmill!
The instructors are very knowledgeable and gear the lessons to the ability of each individual. They have a remote control to reduce or increase the speed of the turf.
Even though I wiped out several times, it didn't hurt at all. They give you protective gear like wrist guards and knee pads too.
