I am writing in my capacity as the President of the Board of Directors of the Monterey County Historical Society and its Boronda Adobe History Center of Salinas, California. In that capacity I documented the whole of the vintage wallpaper project that Gary Sarian of Ameri-Cana Decorating undertook this past year to see through the absolutely stellar installation of the vintage wallpapers in our new Gumper-Castro Library & Reading Room. In my capacity as an architectural historian, I took to documenting all aspects of the undertaking, and Gary Sarian worked diligently, effectively, and masterfully to install what had to have been one of the most complex wallpaper installations I've ever had occasion to document. Using quality printed vintage wall papers, and the care and conscientious planning necessary to assure an absolutely majestic presentation, Gary worked tirelessly to see through the project. He was in addition a scholar and a gentleman whenever it came to answering questions, and working to accommodate work around other craftsmen seeing through the final touches in a Library that repurposed and retrofitted original Eastlake Victorian doors, fireplace mantles, and trim boards in so unique a space. In planning the install of the multiple vintage wallpaper types, Gary Sarian's planning efforts paid dividends, and Gary spared no efforts to assure that all papers ordered were deployed effiently, and masterfully...down to the last detail. In so doing, Gary Sarian honored his original quote, and assured us that no other expenses would accrue. Frankly, I remain amazed that the mastery and skills brought to bear, and the amazing panoply of papers and seamless installations could be done within the cost projections made by this master craftsman. Today, in large part due to the mastery and skills brought to bear by Gary Sarian and Ameri-Cana Decorating, the Gumper Castro Library now constitutes the centerpiece of our five-acre historic house museum campus. We, our Board of Directors and the many visitors that now seek out the Library, are all so impressed and awed by the work of a truly gifted master craftsman and artist, Gary Sarian. Thank you for your incredible gift to the Society.
PS: Gary Sarian has taken the time to attend several events that featured the Library as the piece de resistance, and for me, anyway, that speaks to his commitment to quality, design, value, and pride of workmanship. read more
