I had no clue Amtrak went to Westerly, but I was so grateful since I had to meet a friend there and I didn't want to drive my car. I took the 6:50 am train out of Providence and after one delay, we arrived around 8 am (originally scheduled to arrive at 7:24 am). I tried doing some research before hand as to whether this station is built out with a café, or legit waiting area but didn't find much. The train arrived on the opposite side of the parking lot / exit so I walked over to the first building I saw. It's a little castle-like waiting area, fully enclosed with two benches. There are stairs leading down to a tunnel which connects to the other side. This was pretty unique since I am used to seeing overhead bridges to walk from side to side. On the other side of the track there is another building that seemed to be hosting an art gallery but it was closed. Attached to that was another waiting area with two benches, but this one was only partially enclosed so when it's raining, it doesn't offer much protection. It was pretty quiet the whole time I was there. Although they don't have food or comfortable places to sit, the public library is a 7-minute walk away and there are various food shops nearby. read more
