Our trip here started of R O U G H. We arrived late and pre-arranged a late check-in. The Apache coordinated with us and gave us a code to a lockbox where we could retrieve our key...in theory. We arrived, and the lockbox would not work. This was not user error. Another guest was outside and tried the code as well, and no luck. We even tried the code on the other lockboxes to see if the employee had placed it in a different box. Nope. We called, emailed, and nothing. No response from anyone. We had to find another hotel for the night. The following morning, I called and asked about the lockbox. The friendly lady said that it wasn't our fault--she saw our emails that morning and she wasn't able to get the lockbox to work either. This is a broken system that needs to be fixed asap! They allowed us to shift our reservation to that day and gave us a 9:00 AM check-in to make up for it. Not the most generous offer, in my opinion, but we agreed to it. The rest of our stay at the Apache was everything our whimsical little hearts had hoped for. It's campy and kitschy, retro and funky. The s'mores by the campfire were lovely, the pool was wonderful, the bikes were super fun, the cinnamon rolls and croissants were decent, and the location itself has so much going for it. We had such a wonderful time here, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a little different. read more
