if michelin had stars for bakeries, i would give this place one. the best pastries i've ever had. a western take on asian bakery items. saw that their daily special was a coconut bun so i grabbed that with their famous egg tart.
coconut bun has a light caramelized crisp exterior, and the inside is an extremely soft, chewy brioche. light hints of coconut with every bite - i do think if you are a huge coconut fan though, you probably think the coconut isn't strong enough. but i'm not a big coconut person so i thought it was perfect!
egg tart. the size is generous hence its 5£. a crust that holds up the creamy custard the whole time. it did not break during the last few bites. wow. crust is crunchy, flaky, not oily (i got it in a takeout box and not much oil spots after 2 hrs). the filling texture was what separates it apart from traditional HK tarts. it's more creamy and silky, less custardy. a mousse-like crème texture that is thick enough to hold its form.
outside of the bakery smelled like pure butter, but surprising both items didn't feel too buttery / heavy - i wanted to go back before my flight but the line was too long. life changing pastries.
