The run from Merida to Progreso was okay. That bus was a bit old and needed a bit of maintenance, so our expectations going back weren't too high. The station was very crowded when Hubbers and I got there, so there was a bit of confusion where to buy the tickets and where to line up to board the bus. (There was also lines for cruise passengers and the signs weren't very clear.) We weren't in a hurry, so we eventually figured it out. There was also a waiting area specifically for us, but that also took a minute to figure out. We had a bit of time so I got the chance to check out a lot of vendors and scored some pretty cool (and fairly priced) souvenirs. But back to the ride: we ended up catching a newer and slightly updated bus, so the overall ride was better. The seats were better, the ride wasn't as rough, and the AC was working more efficiently. The trip was more comfortable, so I didn't even notice time going by. We were back in Merida in no time. There are buses leaving every 15 minutes to and from Merida, sometimes sooner depending on how quickly they fill up the buses. So don't fret if you miss one. Another will come along in a few minutes. It's a good (if not a better) option if you don't want to deal with parking or paying for an Uber. Something I'm going to keep in mind on the next visit. read more
