Renting a vehicle at Long Beach Airport, California...
At first, I was really happy with AVIS Rental Car Company because they offered me a 35 percent off discount on my next visit. I booked a car with this super good rate... only to be VERY disappointed...
On 11-2-23 at around 10:10pm, I entered the small building across the street from Baggage Claim at Long Beach Airport. This Rental Car Center is shared by companies such as Alamo, National, Budget, and Hertz.
There was no one at the AVIS counter. The customer in the Hertz line said that she had reservations at AVIS for 9:45pm. She arrived at 10:05pm - and the employee had left at 10pm sharp.
We were in the same boat. Our Hawaiian Airlines flight had been delayed due to poor weather conditions. It wasn't our fault.
Luckily, Hertz had some available vehicles. Alamo and National didn't have anything.
After I secured a vehicle at Hertz, I called AVIS to find out what could be done. The woman on the phone said that I could pick up a car from AVIS within 24 hours.
Um... I already have a car from a different company.
She offered to change the date for the next time I needed a car. I wanted to keep the same 35 percent off deal, so - for $20 more, I can use my reservations in January 2024 when I return to Long Beach Airport.
I don't think I should have to pay the extra $20. It was beyond my control. I need a refund, please. read more
