My phony Negroni was good, not too bitter and my spouse's real Negroni was, he said, also not as bitter as is typical for the drink. I liked mine while he was a little bit disappointed. The four of us shared olives, gougeres (a little rubbery, maybe should be served warm?), and the potatoes which were described vaguely but were in fact delicious fries. Service was casual but many patrons were what I'd call dressed up by Berkeley standards. A steady stream of customers all evening, even on a Tuesday. The staff didn't notice my friends squinting into the setting sun and offer to open the umbrella outside. read more
