We booked a private group experience for 9 ladies 3 1/2 months in advance and were extremely disappointed when the day finally came. What was advertised as a luxury, interactive event turned out to be poorly executed, unprofessional, and not worth the price.
The experience ran over 3 1/2 hours instead of the 2-3 hours promised. Nearly 2 of those hours were spent sitting around with no activities, no music, and nothing to do while the bags were being sewn. The A/C barely worked, and the space was hot, stuffy, and uncomfortable the entire time.
The bag customization was not as advertised. We had very limited options to choose from, no real ability to design our bags freely, and when we asked for help, the bags were simply taken over and finished by the owner. One guest even received a damaged bag with two sets of holes, and no one acknowledged and sent her home with damaged goods.
The cleanliness of the space was unacceptable. Bathrooms were dirty, with urine on the seats, and the floors in the main event space were so unclean that one guest's feet turned black after briefly taking off her shoes.
The food was the final straw. We pre-ordered salmon, grilled chicken skewers, jambalaya with chicken & sausage, and collard greens with smoked turkey. Instead, we received salmon, "pepper steak," canned greens, and plain white rice with parsley sprinkled on top. We were also forced to serve ourselves from cheap aluminum pans, which is not what you expect from a supposedly luxury event. To make matters worse, we watched the host's mother(the chef) fix her a plate of the food we paid for. When I politely brought up the food issue (with proof of what was ordered), the host became defensive and argued with me instead of correcting the mistake. All we got was a dismissive "I'm sorry."
To top it all off, we were charged an automatic 18% gratuity, despite receiving no real service. No one served us, assisted us, or elevated the experience in any way to justify that additional charge.
Save your money. This was not luxury, not well-run, and not customer-focused in the slightest. read more
