Everything here tastes better than it looks.. and their presentation is amazing. We got reservations on Open Table for 2 and had listed that we're celebrating a special occasion. Upon arrival and throughout the dinner the staff were lovely and congratulated us on the special occasion and even offered us each a complimentary glass of sparkling rose. The servers take the time to describe the elements of the dish to you in great detail as they serve it. The animal potatoes tasted like a gourmet twist on Animal Fries from in n out. There were a mix of textural elements and everything was well seasoned. The New York strip was served with a show and would rival other top. steakhouses in terms of quality. Seared to perfection, Smokey, and cooked accurately to your liking. Now for the dish I ordered for myself and the reason I'd rate Barbareno a 6/5 if I could: the miso black cod. It's plated like an art piece and every element isn't just for show. The fish absolutely melts in your mouth and the pairs well with every component on the plate. The purée was nutty and blackberry added bright notes. This sort of unique dish is what makes me excited for the rotating menu and eager to return. Lastly, we got the Baked California for dessert and it truly completed the meal. We were pretty full at this point and almost dreading the fact that we'd ordered dessert but the Baked California was so light and yummy, we cleaned our plates in a flash.
