From Joe's review
Feb 15, 2016
Before my recent visit, I had never left a Bareburger location not being super satisfied with all aspects of my meal. My wife and I had wanted to go to Morrison's (pretty much next door) for a Valentines Day brunch, but with no reservations (my fault) and an hour wait, we decided to try Bareburger. I heard they have brunch as well, but apparently this location doesn't, at least not as of now. So lunch it is. No big deal, I've been waiting for this location to open since it's so close to home and I've driven to Great Neck to get my Bareburger fix. We entered around 12:30 and were seated after a brief chat with the owner. Our server came over with a bottle of water and two glasses shortly after we sat (wow were these water glasses tiny, seriously maybe big enough for 2 ounces of water, it's water, give me a big damn glass). I placed an order for a peanut butter banana milk shake. While the shake was amazing (Maryann M even thought so and she doesn't like shakes), it took about 10 minutes to arrive. Waiter came back and we ordered our meal. Buttermilk Buffalo Chicken bites to start, I was having a bacon cheese burger, my wife was having chicken fingers and we were going to split a side of side of fries/onion rings. But wait, we couldn't get our appetizer because they were out of buttermilk. You just opened 24 hours ago and you are already out of things? Really?!?! The waiter recommended the brussels sprouts, but not my cup of tea, so we skipped the app. 1 burger, 1 order of appetizer chicken fingers and 1 side took over 30 minutes to come out. 30 MINUTES. For a burger, chicken fingers and a side. 30 MINUTES! They weren't even that busy. These are not items that take 30 minutes to prepare. We were told that all burgers come out medium unless specifically order differently. No problem here, I like my burger medium. The problem is that when it came out, it was not medium, it was well done. Also, I really felt like asking the waiter "Where's the beef?" - in my opinion, a burger should never be smaller than the bun it is served on (see my photos). Other than that, the burger was really tasty and still juicy considering it was well done. Onion rings awesome, and the fries were good, although nothing special. Maryann M just wanted chicken fingers, and while they were crispy and juicy, they used some kind of seasoning (which was not listed on the menu) that really turned us off to them - we will never order them again. We didn't even take home the left overs. And all of this for $50 before tip? Not sure it's worth it. Bareburger of Plainview was literally years in the making, I think it took 2 1/2 years for this place to open. The owner (I think he was at least) blamed it all on political corruption. That may be the case but wow it took long to open. The building was finished over a month ago, but they were training up until 2/13/16 when they finally opened. A month of training, this place should run like a well oiled machine, unfortunately it doesn't. Funny that there is a 5 star review the same day they opened with nothing but glowing compliments. Could this be an owner or employee writing the review? Sorry G G. but it looks like you may be biased. Cheaper than "that Robin place", clearly you didn't pay for your meal. read more
