Review: The Beachside Tavern - Out with the Old, In with the New
Out with the old and in with the new -- The Beachside Tavern has officially replaced Harbor House, bringing a fresh vibe to the lakefront dining scene. While I wish they had done a bit more advertising before opening (we almost missed it!), I'm glad to see a new option right on the lake. It's great to have a spot like this back in the area.
The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with a beautiful view of the water that truly makes the slightly higher prices feel justified. Whether you're stopping in for dinner or just drinks by the water, the setting is hard to beat.
We started with the beer cheese dip, which unfortunately didn't live up to the rest of the experience -- it really needs soft pretzel bites instead of chips to be a hit. The crab cake tots, on the other hand, were unique and delicious, and the chicken parmesan was a solid main dish, flavorful and satisfying.
They also offer boat pier rentals, a weekend breakfast buffet (which we'll definitely be back to try), and Zing Zang Bloody Marys that seem perfect for a laid-back Sunday morning.
Overall, The Beachside Tavern is a welcome change and has huge potential. A few tweaks and a bit more visibility, and this place could be a local favorite in no time. read more
