I was recently evicted from a home represented by Beith Associates due to "not maintaining the property properly" I have lived at 256 Sanford Rd Franklin Pa for several years and have regularly taken care of the property. I mowed the property I was renting AND the property my landlord, Barb Riley, lived in (which happened to be the next door house). Not only did my landlord live as a neighbor to me and make me take care of their yard on top of my own, but knew my house was infested with black mold, saw it with their own eyes, and did absolutely nothing about the condition of the house. I reported to my realtor MULTIPLE times the horrible condition of the basement and how the black mold started to spread into the upstairs (in the walls, under and behind the tub, in the air vents, soaking into the carpet , and even on the siding of the house.) Though I dealt with that living situation as a disabled veteran for several years, they have evicted me for not maintaining the property-. I ended up in the hospital for a respiratory infected caused by the mold and my doctor wrote a letter to my realtor's lawyer, William Cisek, insisting I don't live in the dangerous conditions of that moldy house and the realtor still did nothing to fix the problem and evicted me anyway for lawncare issues. I never got paid for maintaining the property I wasn't renting (the next door neighbor who is the landlord) or got it taken off my rent. As a disabled veteran, I am appalled at the treatment I've received from Beith Associates as I have taken care of my part of the contract since I moved in and they can't even take care of the issues they are responsible for like the black mold infestation and the faulty electricity. On top of the mold, the wiring of the house is dangerous (multiple outlets don't work), there is no insulation in the walls, cold air leaks through the walls, the heat leaks out through a crack in the foundation in the basement (heat is constantly running because nothing is keeping it in the house so the electricity bill is astounding), and the foundation has shifted significantly causing air drafts through doors and walls. Not to mention the fact that no one has been out to inspect the house for issues like these since I moved in 7 years ago. I have tried to report this issue to the DA, Shawn White, as well and was turned down immediately. I have reached out to the mayor, Doug Baker, in hopes to be guided in the right direction and was shooed away. I have run out of options for asking for help. I did love the house and property but so much maintenance needs done by the landlord its causing health issues for me. The moment I moved out, the house went up on the market to be sold for a copious amount of money and the landlord moved to AZ. I feel unheard and abandoned. It felt like the ganged up on me and turned the other cheek in the end. I can't believe as a disabled veteran, this is how I've been treated by Venango County. I called Cisek at the beginning of June '23 to ask "how can you take the money from a slumlord like Barb Riley and kick a veteran out on the street?" And HE SAID " yes mr shields I'm a male f***ing w*ore and a proud male f***ing w*ore, now get out of my house". This is the same person who disregarded my doctor's letter stating the house caused my respiratory infection. Anyone who is looking to buy a house from Beith Associates, DO NOT DO IT. You'll probably end up on the streets with infectious mold in your lungs too. read more
