The city of Berkeley is one of the best places to live that I have seen and I have traveled a lot. This is a city that sponsors more public events that just about any city in California and probably any city in America. And these events are all free. Concerts, cultural events, parades, street festivals, music festivals, the list goes on. Very few cities provide the level of free entertainment that the city of Berkeley provides. The city government is one of the most liberal in the world. Standing up for issues that other cities will not even discuss. The weather is excellent most of the year. Great city parks and a fabulous Marina. Pretty good schools. Lot's of interesting stores, restaurants, movie theatres, clubs and places to go out and have a good time. Lots of buses, rail, and BART, so it's fairly easy to get around without a car. People are friendly and for the most part crime is low. The city of Berkeley gets 5 stars from me.
