I lived in this building for three years during my time at UC Berkeley. I've stayed in the quads and the studio single. Overall, I'd say there are much better places for your money. The lowest rent here is about $1650 (I actually paid over $2000 during my junior year for the studio), but I think it's worth more like $1400. The resident manager is typically available, which is super useful in case you get locked out or something. The kitchen on the second floor is huge, and it's not a bad place to host a dinner or a potluck. It's convenient to have all utilities included. With that said, the elevator is often broken here. The rooftop gets shut down around 11pm typically, so you can't really throw parties. They have building security to shut down events. The fire alarm used to go off all the time during the last two years, but it's improved recently. The ventilation in the rooms is pretty bad, and you need to leave a window open. Good luck if it's raining. The pool table downstairs was missing balls for years and had broken sticks. The foosball table is still missing balls. The washers and dryers can only accommodate very small loads, and half of the machines are often broken. The mail is typically left unprotected at the front entrance, so anyone can take it, and someone actually did start stealing our mail last year. The front entrance has a key fob to get in, but to make it handicap accessible, the door swings entirely open after you buzz in, meaning that anyone can tailgate behind you. And in fact, a stranger actually did walk in past midnight last year and blasted his music in the bottom floor lounge until he was presumably kicked out. It's just way too expensive and you're paying for convenience. I would put in the work to find a decent place for your money and you won't regret it.
