It's hard to give anything less than 5 Stars for the Berlin War. This sizable piece of the infamous/famous Berlin War is a gift from the Burke Family (more commonly famous for the Burke Museum). A sign by the wall states that it arrived in Fremont in 2002 to commemorate the role of Seattle and Boeing's C-47 in the Berlin Airlift of 1948.
This piece of wall is easily accessible by the public. It is on the same street as the famous Fremont Troll, south and down the hill at the corner of Troll Ave N and N34th Street. It is very surprising to be walking along the street, see this hunk of concrete, and then mumble to myself, "Isn't that (a piece of) the Berlin Wall?" Why, yes, it is! Thank you to the Burke Family for this pleasant surprise. Also thank you to all those who had the restraint to not add any new graffiti on such an important historical monument. read more
