I was so excited about Bistro Menil as I had heard excellent things and could not wait to try it. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and dined on the outdoor patio. I loved this restaurant the second I saw it- the clean, contemporary decor. The bar, the patio, everything was perfectly done! The weather was great on this day, although sunny and there were no umbrellas on the patio so VERY BRIGHT. The restaurant was packed and had a great vibe. The menu is great, a lot of options and they recently started brunch on the weekends complete with mimosas, bloody mary's, etc.
THE HORROR- My girlfriend and I ordered 2 salads and an olive tapenade flat bread. We loved our flat bread- the crust was so thin and flaky, the flavors were perfect...and then...we saw...A SHORT, CURLY, BLOND HAIR cooked right in. We were horrified and checked our salads and the rest of the slices of the flat bread and we did indeed find more hair in the flat bread. We immediately notified the waitress and sent the food away. After paying our bill for the 2 salads (which we had not finished), we asked to speak to a manager to let him know of our experience. The manager came to our table, reversed our bill and apologized. The bill probably should not have been brought out in the first place, as we were still hungry and left to eat elsewhere. The manager did not seem sincerely apologetic, he seemed more embarrassed that other diners could hear us talking. Huge disappointment.
I had high hopes because this really is a cute place with much potential. But hair in food, really? Don't you learn about that in Restaurants 101? read more
