Roughton Road Station is just over a mile from Cromer town centre and is often advertised as the nearest station for visitors to Felbrigg Hall. The important thing to know is that this unmanned station has 19 steep steps between the roadway and the station platform and that during the daytime the trains only stop here every 2 hours.
The railway bridge going over the road is an attractive architectural, feature with its forests on either side where it is home for some lovely woodland birds and wild flora.
Now with the new Amazona Zoo open, people travelling to it on public transport may well find this station the best point to alight, as it will be a downhill walk alongside attractive farmland to reach the zoo entrance and avoid the busy town. read more
