I was in Ely for just over a week, of which a week was spent with a choir from Belfast singing at Ely Cathedral and I booked the Ely Guest House for my accommodation. The guest house is owned by and situated over BKK (aka Eat Thai) and it was inevitable that I would dine there at some stage during my nine-night stay at the Ely Guest House. I now wish that I had started going there earlier in the week. On night 6 out of 9, while in my upstairs room, I heard some familiar voices in the street below my window and I opened the window to call my choir friends who didn't hitherto know that I was sitting above them any more than I knew that they were below me. Next day, away from the premises, I asked some of them what it was like and I only had good reports so I went there on each of my three remaining nights. Over the first two nights I had two soup starters (Tom Kha and Tom Yam) and two vegetarian curries (Gang Pha and Gang Panang) and on the final night I had satay skewers followed by Pad Thai. I just wish I had taken more time to enjoy more of what was on offer. It's an excellent restaurant. read more
