There are many races run during the same weekend at Black Diamond. This year, there were a long distance triathlon and endurance duathlon on Saturday, and on Saturday they held a half marathon, olympic level tri, sprint tri, and tri-it (novice) tri. There was a lot going on.
I did the sprint level tri (.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike, 2.8 mile run), and I loved it.
Things to know:
1) Parking is limited; get there early.
2) The water is cold. You should wear a wetsuit.
3) The swim start is too crowded. They should have separated the women into a few waves. I am strong swimmer, and it was scary. Be ready to fight for your space.
4) The run is fairly flat, with a few rolling hills. Check out the course ahead of time; we rode it on the day of registration. This helps because when all of these races are going at once, you know exactly what you're doing.
5) The run is on a trail in the woods on woodchips with some hills. If you're doing the sprint race, make sure you do both loops--some people missed the second loop.
