Wouldn't you know it? I'm about to snag a rare airport FtR, and by the time I get around to doing it, Denver International Airport's website informs me that Bodega DEN is temporarily closed until Friday, April 25. Late April, 2026! That's a month after the next time I'll be flying and possibly passing through DEN--although I hope not--which isn't for another four months.
Anyway, Bodega DEN. I have no idea why it's called that. It doesn't feel like a bodega. What does a bodega feel like, you ask? Well, it's kind of a New York corner store, and from all the movies and TV shows I've seen, crimes often go down in bodegas, as well as the sale of burner phones, as well as numbers rackets and possibly and (more probably) probably really good delis or at least deli cases or at the very least random "ethnic" desserts or snacks that the owner's wife/sister/mother-in-law makes specifically for the store.
Does Bodega DEN include any of that? That would be a big nope.
Although I felt like your typical mark in a con scheme here, because we're all such idiots to pay as much as we do for regular things in airports. In my and your and most people's defense, it's illegal to bring your own drinks past security, so they have you by the bodegas there, they do.
My drink was a ripoff.
My chocolate-covered pretzels were more of a ripoff, and I just realized that I never ate them or even opened the bag, so they're sitting in my backpack somewhere, ready to be eaten.
The guy working when I came was a space cadet. Nice, but not paying attention in the slightest. He seemed neither bored nor annoyed nor frustrated. Just a dude working in a fake bodega in an awful airport.
I'm being generous with the three stars. read more
