Botna Bend is a great place to visit with the family. The main draws are the herd of elk and the herd of bison in residence. The animals are in a large, grassy enclosure that affords them plenty of space. There are also several white bison, which I don't recall ever seeing anywhere else. The 119 acre park has RV and tent camping plus an events lodge and shelter. Located in Pottawattamie County on a bend in the West Nishnabotna River, other activities include canoeing, disc golf, a playground, and hiking. We were there in March, so the trees were bare, making it somewhat stark. I'm looking forward to visiting again when the trees are in full leaf. read more
