I have been searching for a long time for a good loaf of sourdough bread in Missouri. traveled an hour to Springfield and found a cheerful friendly staff. Not a wide selection of bzkery goods. i paid $8.50 for a loaf of sourdough. This bread is hard to describe. it lacked a brown crusty exterior, there is no spring , it is dense and the mouth feel is chewy and doughy. It is seriously over or under-proofed, perhaps lacked enough heat or any steam during baking. It doesn't even brown when toasted on dark TWICE. Wont be going back. I ended up tossing the remains. read more
