This event was actually a little while ago and I'm just now getting around to the review. Most people have done fun runs in the past like the color runs that some sort of dye or dye powder is thrown at you as you run and you leave looking like you just finished an episode of Double Dare (takin' it back to the 90's for ya). This bubble run was really different. I kind of wish they would have one in Tacoma because it was pretty popular in Everett. As with most fun runs, the price was about $25 for early registration. I thought that was reasonable. You, of course, get a shirt and removable tattoos and a headband. Parking was also not a problem when we got there. You just had to park up the street and walk down. The packet pickup was also easy and there was no wait.
They started everyone in waves spaced apart by about 5-10 mins so that no one was tripping over each other. It was cool how they kept the bubbles within the confines of each station as the runners herded through the corrals. The bubbles fell from the sky from these special fans that generated more bubbles and filled up the color stations. There were different colored bubble stations along the way and the bubbles were waist to chest high in most of the stations. We were kind of wondering how the color gets on your shirt but the dye somehow settles onto the shirt after the colored bubbles pop. There were people running through the stations with strollers and even people in wheelchairs. It was very easy to lose small children in the bubble stations since the bubbles got really high and were over the heads of most children. I think that made it more fun as an adult though because you didn't really know what was on the other side of the bubble wall, so you just powered on through. It also made it a little complicated because it made you more apt to run into someone because you couldn't see or you might knock down a child.
They even had water stations at the half way point of the course so that you could keep hydrated.
Overall, it was perfect weather and it wasn't raining which can sometimes dampen the mood and ruin a color type run. I would definitely do it again if it's closer to one of the cities in the lower part of the Puget Sound. read more
