Buddha Republic is a world in itself. Adorned with Chinese lanterns, Buddhist fixtures, and Turkish paintings, it's like an oriental wonderland. Muted lights, bird cages and chandeliers complete the mystical aura. The servers are very friendly and attentive. Portions of starters may be a little conservative but the mains are really large and filling. We had the paneer pakoras (with a unique crispy topping), palak paneer (an innovation of tandoori paneer chunks in a sambhar-like gravy with aubergines, cherry tomatoes, spinach, and pomegranate seeds), basmati rice topped with nuts and dried fruits, garlic naan, and coconut ice-cream. The ice-cream was served in a cute ceramic matka and we tasted real coconut in every mouthful. A special mention to the Old Monk that is served warmed up like a fancy liqueur, the sparkling wine, and the Jack Daniels Cola. A meal here is sure to redefine Indian food for you. read more
