We live over on the Virginia side in Arlington so it's not often we make it over to this area. But when we are here, we make sure to stop by since there are some items they have here fresher/in greater supply than at European Foods Import/Export ... or the nearby Las Americas market around the corner.
The most common items we make sure to pick up here:
- More options of snacks and desserts, including imported Pé de Moleque or the fresh Pão de Mel you can get at the register
- Various brands and genres of condiments and sauces, including molho de tomate from Elefante and Pomarola
- A wider and fresher selection of breakfast and snack items, including Piraquê crackers and Pão de Queijo with Catupiry
It's pretty cramped in here with how busy it gets, but to their credit the recent renovation (i.e. clearing and brightening up the main seating area) has improved things by leaps and bounds.
I wouldn't recommend most of the salgadinhos -- they're edible but nothing special -- and parking here can be a nightmare sometimes. But for stocking up your pantry, this place has nearly everything you're looking for and is well worth the occasional trip. read more
