When in Venice, you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to at least visit the original store where Venetian masks are made for country wide festivals. The man that runs the store isn't friendly. Don't let that stop you from browsing the tightly packed store that's filled with every style of mask that you could possibly want. The owner is a multiple generational owner of this speciality store. He carefully makes, hand paints, and put the final touches on each and every mask. He does have a little help from family during heavy festival season. The styles are incredible! From steampunk to the double face musical masks. ( see pictures) I love the mini masks that could actually be worn! There are other masks shops in and around Venice. They aren't authentic or made locally.
