Boy Scout camp nestled in Northern Kentucky. Camp is owned by the Dan Beard Council. Until recently, the camp was primarily a more primitive experience. A multimillion dollar training facility has been built on the property, as well as shower house that is also a FEMA certified storm shelter. Showers maintain pressure even when others are used, and toilets flush. Even with these upgrades, the camp is primarily intended to be an outdoorsy experience of tent camping.
Beginning this year, Camp Michaels is now where NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training,) for the area is being held. Having NYLT away from the happenings of summer camp will allow the Scouts to truly be immersed in the experience. Make sure to bring bug spray.
Training facility was designed to be a modern facility with rustic charms. Exposed wood beams, floor to ceiling windows and stone fireplace adds to that rustic feel. Modern restrooms and kitchen in the training facility. The building is also equipped with air conditioning. Password protected wifi is only available in the building. This allows for internet access for presentations, and quick check-ins by leaders. Scouts can not even be tempted to use cell phones. read more
