Go here if you like authentic Mexican food made with love. The owner is the son of the proprietor of Casa Corazon, easily one of my very most favorite restaurants in Phoenix.
We arrived on a slow Wednesday but it was only slow because word hasn't gotten out quite yet. We were greeted and shown to a lovely table in the dining area. The server promptly brought a tasty little corn cake freebie that had lovely flavor.
We each ordered tacos, the queso (whoa! Flavor explosion in that skillet) and the elote plate. It was way too much food for two, only because the servings were more than generous.
The queso had fresh sliced avocado, with mushrooms, onions and peppers mixed in. My guy isn't a fan of mushrooms but gobbled them up when enrobed in a flavorful blend of cheeses. The cochinita pibil taco was perfect - slow roasted citrusy pork that just melts in your mouth. His taco looked amazing, too. Tasty carne asada. The elote esquites was delicious corn shaved off the cob mixed with crema, spices and dusted with cheese. It was mild and delicious.
I can't say enough good things. The restaurant that Cien Fuegos replaced was a dump with lousy food. They extensively renovated it and even have fresh flowers at your table. Next time you want good Mexican food, skip the chains and support this amazing family restaurant. You won't be disappointed. read more
