Dr. Callery is a no-nonsense doctor that really makes sure his patients understand the procedure they are about to go through completely. He gives you a binder that not only helps keep you organized, but it becomes your bible as you make the journey toward bypass surgery. I have had Roux en-y gastric bypass 15 years ago, and Dr. Callery is performing a gastric sleeve on on my adult son within the next couple of months. The nutrition counseling and the classes you're scheduled to attend really help prepare you for the process. My own doctor was nowhere near as thorough as Dr. Callery...and I'm glad to have him as my son's surgeon. My son surpassed the initial weight loss assigned to him prior to surgery, and has lost approximately 30 lbs prior to surgery, which they have been very supportive of here at the office. Karen is amazing, and we love coming to see her - she is the perfect person to help within any questions you might have about everything from dieting to exercise to what to expect post-surgery. This office is thorough, professional, and I am so glad that my son's insurance was accepted here. It's literally right next to the hospital that he will be having his surgery at too, so we're able to find the office as well as the classes (held at the hospital) very easily. We know what to expect, and Dr. Callery won't operate unless he believes you have a realistic and comprehensive idea of what to expect post-surgery, especially with regard to what you'll be eating. I wish I would have had as great a doctor as my son does when I had my surgery 15 years ago...by even I've learned a lot just by attending the classes with my son.
