The Chaudiere Bridge is one of 5 interprovincial bridges that connects Ottawa, Ontario to Gatineau, Quebec. It crosses the Ottawa River and is just east of the Chaudiere Falls.
It was built in 1919 and is a Truss bridge.
It accommodates vehicular traffic, as well as cyclists and pedestrians.
It's more of a functional bridge and not particularly photogenic itself. However, while on the bridge you can capture some nice photos of the Chaudiere Falls, depending on the water levels.
In 2019 the Chaudiere Bridge was closed for months due to high water levels essentially flooding the bridge.
I have driven across this bridge and also walked across it. It's a smaller bridge, only one lane each way, so can get really congested, especially during rush hour. read more
