Tucked into the small village of Ephraim along the Green Bay shoreline in Wisconsin, Chef's Hat is exactly the kind of place you stumble upon and don't forget.
The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We ordered three dishes: the Norwegian herb-encrusted salmon over grilled root vegetables and quinoa, a New Orleans pasta with chicken, and a pistachio chicken open sandwich. Each one delivered.
The salmon dish stood out for its char on the root vegetables and the quinoa, which had real texture and flavor. The dressing brought everything together in a way that felt considered, not just functional. The pistachio chicken sandwich was the sleeper hit. The chicken itself was exceptional, and it came paired with kettle chips that were better than any side chips have a right to be.
The view of the water made the whole meal feel unhurried and easy, the kind of setting that makes food taste even better.
Great food, attentive service, and a view that earns its mention. A complete experience. read more
