We are here for Christmas and visiting family in Buffalo. We stopped here to pick up dinner to bring back to our Airbnb. I was happy to find Subgum Wonton on their list as it brings back memories from decades ago from visits to Chinatown with my parents. (Just a tip, the prices on the giant menu on the wall are out of date, lol. They do have plenty of paper menus though...I just found it convenient to read the large menu on the wall)
We ordered hot and sour soup, wonton soup, shrimp rolls, tofu and vegetables and Subgum Wonton. The portion sizes were are no different than most of the Chinese restaurants. A small container of rice with each entree. My wonton soup had a nice flavor that was light but good. The shrimp eggroll was the best I've had in a while. Nice amount of cabbage, the outside wasn't hard and I actually found a nice size shrimp inside. My husband enjoyed his tofu and I thought the Subgum Wonton was delicious. A very nice amount of beef, pork, chicken and shrimp and a very nice variety of vegetables. Mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, bok choy and snow peas. The sauce was a brown sauce that went well with all the ingredients.
I felt the price of $40 was very fair since this would have easily fed 4 people.
The interior was clean and though it was busy ( with take outs) our wait was only about 10-15 minutes.
The picture of the tofu dish was after it was eaten, sorry. read more
