The CCG is worth a visit if you are going to Joshua Tree National Park and if you like cacti.
This spot is more towards the east entrance and about 30 miles from the main spots like Hidden Valley and Jumbo Rocks. Probably about 45 miles from the NW entrance off park boulevard.
If you come in the SE entrance this is 1 of the main big spots you will hit as you drive towards the NW entrance.
There is a walking path and there are plenty of signs to warn you about the bees and the cacti sticking to you, your clothes, and your shoes.
The cacti are "sticky" or appear to be as the break off easy and the barbs will get entangled in anything. Don't use your fingers to try to separate the cacti pieces from you or your clothes or shoes.
This is a unique landscape in Joshua Tree and definitely a different look than the other side of the park.
You may also see dead animals that the birds have dropped into the Cholla.
The trail is not very long at all and you can walk through in 5-10 minutes.
Parking can be a pain when it is very busy and crowded. read more
