A place I have only vistited once (so possibly not the fairest review!)
If you are after a sophisticated lunch with some Important clients then, needless to say, this may not be the ideal place. But for those of us who just fancy traditional and affordable, this could be right up your street. The surrounding environment is more Walford than Westminster, but quite frankly its a nice change. Somewhere which doesn't try to be something it's not. The staff were reasonably friendly and made the effort to wipe down the table as we were seated. Now that's not exactly groundbreaking, but was just a nice conscious piece of hygeine which was warmly received. The food itself is loosely chip-shop based, but they still do a few classics. There was a slight delay with food but this was due to it being cooked fresh to order. It was served with a curtious smile and an apology about the wait.
Now it's a bit hard to get too carried away with Battered Sausage and Chips, but the chips were genuinely very nice. Likewise the sausage, but I found the batter to be perhaps a little too crispy. However, this was my only slight issue. Overall, for what it is, a good place to grab some hearty grub. read more
