Very remote, largely unknown campground. There is no service of any kind, so come prepared with anything you may need (firewood, water, emergency needs). Camping is free. There are 6 spots along the creeks - first come, first served. Layout is a little weird since some sites require you to walk through other people's sites to get to yours. The position of the site also makes it very shady and extremely buggy. It's beautiful, but the bugs here are phenomenal. 2 clean pit toilets. Each site has a bear box, picnic table, and firepit. 1 parking spot each. Absolutely NO ACCOMMODATION or access for campers or pullalongs. Palmer Creek Road is extremely narrow and, in many places, requires you to pull over and let others pass.
No potable water, but located at the intersection of Coeur D'Alene and Palmer Creeks, so filtration is possible if you come prepared. No cell service. A place to unplug, enjoy nature. Be prepared for bears, etc. If the campground is full there are a number of places along the road that work as makeshift campsites as well, although the Forest Service has most places posted as Keep Off for tundra remediation due to ATV damage. This entire portion of the Chugach is posted as absolutely no ATV usage. read more
