Colony Park is one of the 21 community parks in Cooper City that the Parks and Recreation Department maintains to support the recreation and healthy lifestyles of residents and visitors. This is the neighborhood park for the Colony Estates community in Cooper City. It is a neighborhood known for nearly a thousand single family homes and prized for being quiet and family friendly. Colony Park is open from sunrise to sunset. At only 1/4 of an acre, it is considered a pocket park. Pocket parks are generally less than half an acre in size and can offer a variety of amenities for the public. This type of mini park arose from a desire within communities to create spaces for outdoor recreation instead of adding more buildings or leaving land vacant. While small, the park is still enjoyable for taking kids out to play. There is a small, shade-covered playground with a slide and climbing equipment. The park also features shade trees, benches, a picnic table, and open space. However, there is no dedicated parking or restroom facilities. An important point to note is that the park is not fenced in, so you'll need to keep an eye on children to ensure they don't wander off. It ended up being the perfect place to sit for a few minutes while I planned my next destination.
