Located on the corner of 2nd St. and A St. Park in downtown and just walk over.
I love history and walking into a museum with the City of Upland history inside absolutely peaked my interest.
The museum is opened from 12 pm to 5 pm. I've been to Upland several times but we were usually here in the mornings and we never stayed long enough for me to visit, however last weekend we came in the afternoon so I was looking forward to visit.
Outside, it's a lovely white 1947 Art Modern building which was used as the Ontario-Cucamonga fruit exchange and inside is the museum that shows you the history and culture of the surrounding cities of Upland, Ontario, Montclair and Rancho Cucamonga.
While browsing inside, I had the pleasure of meeting Marilyn Anderson, the Museum Director. I heard wonderful stories of how it was like growing up in Upland. I can imagine her running along the orange groves with her best friend, climbing the trees and hanging out at the corner market watching as people would drive by to pump the gas. Listening to her stories was amazing. She is also a talented artist. You can see some of her work throughout the museum.
I picked up several articles that were free to visitors. She wrote in almost every article. Plus with each issue there are stories from other Upland resident of their memories as well as recipes.
I was able to go into the library and asked Marilyn if she could show me her High School picture and she was able to find it. She's a remarkable woman and beautiful lady inside and out. I was able to take a selfie with her.
There's so much I could tell you, but rather you should go visit the museum yourself and find out about the history of these local cities.
My son was born in San Antonio Hospital in Upland so I wanted to share a bit of the city's history with him too. read more
