I'm sure on any other day this would've been a five-star experience so I'm gonna chalk it up to being a fluke. However, it was a very unsavory fluke.
Walking in, I fell in love with the adorable, retro chic without being too pretentious vibe. The barista was so friendly that I felt like I made a new best friend upon arriving. And I was the first person there. I made a point to get there right after they opened because I was on a road trip, and I needed to get back on the road quickly.
So I ordered a quick toast and a Cortado. The coffee came out quickly and was good, and then after 15-ish minutes, I was still waiting for the food, I thought maybe they forgot the order, so I went up to my new bestie and asked them about it, and apparently someone who was supposed to be there to make the food wasn't there yet. That was extremely frustrating. I wish they had warned me in advance that there might be a wait for the food because I would've opted not to order it, but at that point I was committed since going elsewhere would just tack on more time.
20 mins after that, I finally got my toast. Yes, 35 minutes to deliver a toasted piece of bread with some toppings and a small bed of lettuce with blueberries and seeds. At that point, I was bummed cause now my whole day was delayed.
Fortunately, the toast was yum, and I know this place is beloved, so I think they just need to make sure they have someone reliable taking care of the food preparation on Sunday mornings. No more Saturday night party people! read more
