After a short one hour cruise on the Douro river we ran by chance into Cozinhas das Flores and experienced their trendy Bar Flor where the mixologist Tatiana Cardosa created special cocktails like a Monotone and a Fioret. She won best barwomen for the entire city of Porto. So, we were in for a treat.
We sat outside and enjoy some small snacks which this restaurant is really known for. Their Portuguese chef Nuno Mendes, who gained attention and acclaim while at the helm of the celebrity watering hole Chiltern Firehouse in London, returned to Portugal to headline Cozinha das Flores in Porto. He is a two Michelin stars chef known for his creativity of small plates and dishes. The restaurant offer traditional Portuguese cuisine from the North with an Asian and a Pays Basque twist! He was trained at the initial team of El Bouli with chef Ferra Adria one of the top chef in Barcelona. This local Portuguese restaurant was created by two Danish investors who love Oporto!
We enjoyed on their terrace sone local jamon (ham) and some croquettes with small grey shrimps - Rissosis de Camarao. We also had a Paleta which is a small meat filled oven cooked pastry like dish. The service was dedicated and attentive with Leonora Marquesini overseeing our services. We enjoy two cocktails including their go to Monotone. The drinks are small and on the expensive side.
