I have been utilizing cube smart as my storage facility since 7/12/23. From that day forward there have been constant issues. Firstly when I went in to sign my paperwork on a time crunch in between work, and I made the young lady aware that I had my own lock and she told me that I would need to return the green lock that was on the unit (not even mentioning to return the other lock that is usually sold or added to the unit cost). I told her that I wasn't moving into the unit until 7/28/23 and she never mentioned that I would be charged if I didn't return the lock within 48hrs although I literally told her when I planned to move in. Two days later I get a voicemail from the same lady saying I was being charged a late fee for not returning the green lock. I hadn't even accessed the unit yet because I wasn't moving for another 2 weeks, Not to mention I brought my lock with me the day I signed my papers so why wouldn't she say "ma'am you should put the lock on the unit now so you wont be charged because you only have 48hrs from TODAY!". The second issue occurred the week of my move when I found a puddle of water in my unit on the Monday 7/24. I called the manager and made them aware of the puddle and took pictures and put in a work request to have it fixed and prior to me moving in on that Friday 7/28. The day of move in my door code wouldn't work, there was a sign on the door that the lady would be back at a specific time (we waited an hour and she never came back/30mins past time). I call corporate again to see if I can get another code. They provided a emergency door code that I had to use for 2 months because it was never fixed (I addressed this issue with the same young lady btw face to face when I came to check if the water issue was addressed, midweek). The third issue occurred 11/19 when I needed to access my unit to get some work items. Well, that didn't happen because there was a red lock on my unit enabling me from accessing it as if my account wasn't paid to date (they had just retrieved their payment on 11/12). I called corporate again explaining the issue. The woman was very understanding and stated that there was nothing mentioning the purpose of the lock on my unit so it must've been a mistake. I specifically asked to speak to the regional manager to resolve the matter. I was told that regional managers are required to call within 48hrs which would have been 11/21 and here it is 12/27, I never received a call from ANYONE within that time frame! I had to go purchase more work items the next day, when I should have been able to access my own. I called the store 4x on 11/20 and got no answer or returned call until that evening. I was also told "sorry for the late call we were doing auctions all day". Well that brought me lots of comfort. I was called by the store manager again (still no upper management) on 11/27 letting me know that the regional manager applied a $42 discount on my rent that I was notified a week earlier (via mail) was going up $42. So he basically discounted me the difference of what I was already paying every single month ON TIME! Must I mention the list of other issues that I've experienced such the door being stuck open for anyone to access the facility, the disgusting bathroom, two dolly's for a 100+ unit facility (so imagine multiple people moving in on the same day), the elevator light the was broken (dark for two months), completely full humidity bags I keep and have to change monthly in my unit due to moisture (probably also due to the thermostat being kept on the highest temp listed in contract 80° in blazing summer temps and at the lowest in winter months). This has been by far the worse storage renting experience I have ever had and I don't plan on staying! I really hope they find some resolutions for the facility and customers like me who've had to suffer through these inconveniences and poor customer service.
