So far, this is my favorite Cascade Lake. It is large and incredibly clear. You will need to know that this lake is one of the furthest away from Bend of all the larger Cascade Lakes so cell reception may not be great for you. This lake has pretty deep sections followed by some nice little shallow swimming areas. The swimming area to the west fo the lake is my favorite. It is so clear and extremely shallow. You can walk for a good 200ish yards before it gets too deep for an average adult to touch bottom. The campgrounds around this lake are gorgeous and right off of the lake. There is a large butte right next to this lake that makes for beautiful photo opportunities. The trail along this lake is gorgeous and takes you to a little horse camp. There is a picnic table right here wich is an awesome little quiet spot for a picnic. I have kayaked to this spot and absolutely loved it! If you are not an outdoorsy person you will be relieved to know that there is a resort out here that has a small restaurant and store. I have not been in it, but they do warn the public that this is for guests only. Overall if you are not opposed to a longer drive for a more scenic and breathtaking hike, swim, or campout. Cultus Lake should be one on your lists of lakes to see. read more
