This is a very nice neighborhood park in Margate. The park dates back to the 1950's when the City of Margate was incorporated. It is one of the original parks in the city. It served as a recreational hub and it was the site of many athletic events and civic organizations in the developing city. Today David Park is the home of the Catherine Young Library, Northwest Focal Point Senior Center, Charles and Carol Katz Community Center, The Leonard Weisinger Community Center, Park and Recreations administrative offices, and the George Mudd playground. The park holds many youth and senior programs and has been the site of the Margate Fourth of July celebration for the last 30 years. The playground portion of the park is named for former city manager George Mudd. It received a recent renovation paid for by the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency. The playground was renovated, the parking lot was expanded and a new picnic shelter, security lights and sidewalks were installed. The playground floor is rubber which makes it ADA accessible. There are also some ADA play structures like the swings. The playground has a toddler area and one for older children. There is some interesting play equipment that allows the kids to climb, spin around, and practice their balance. Best of all, the playground and surrounding benches have shade covers to protect everyone from the Florida sun. In addition to the playground there is a drink machine and picnic pavilion with tables. Restrooms are available in the community center. This is a very popular place to take the kids in Margate to play. read more
