As I've just reviewed Banbury Cross, I thought I should review both Daylight Donuts locations that I've visited. I will preface this review with the fact that I am wary of any donut chains as I grew up with locally owned donut shops everywhere. But Daylight is decent.
If you're looking for variety, this isn't the place. Again, I grew up with lots of donut shops that had at least a dozen varieties, if not more (take a look at Yum Yum Donuts in CA, holy huge variety!). So to go in and have so few options is not super exciting.
If you're looking for good service, this store really isn't the place. It's the same dude working every time, and even though I smile and say thank you and am pleasant and energetic, he is just a sour puss with a grumpy look on his face. Maybe he's not a morning person, in which case I'd suggest a different place of employment.
If you are looking for calorie friendly donuts, this is the place for you! Their raised donuts are super macro friendly, so for those of you watching calories or macros, you can get a basic iced donut without breaking your carb bank.
If you're looking for decent donuts: you got it. I've had their maple and chocolate raised (rings and bars), their glazed old fashioned, and one time I really splurged and got a Pinecone. It was pretty awesome. If you need a decent donut, this is definitely better than a grocery store donut if it's on your way to work.
I'm just grateful for more options at this point, in case I don't feel like driving downtown for a normal donut. read more
