I have eaten at Deccan Spice in Edison multiple times and it was consistently good, but the Jersey City restaurant was not up to expectation. The "Lounge" area, felt like a sham, and the door to the Lounge area was kept open so much so that we can directly see into the streets, and feel the cold air anytime someone opened the main entrance.
Service was pretty slow, which was odd considering we went in on a weekday and the place was not that crowded.
Cocktail that I ordered was pretty good and strong, which was the only plus. Mirchi Bajji batter was too thick, so felt like it was not properly cooked through. Mutton Sukka tasted great, but more bones than meat. But the final straw was the Chicken Biryani - it tasted awful and soapy, and we ended up leaving it mostly untouched. They did comp off the Biryani though, thankfully. Staff were polite. read more
