Delphi Golf is a cheap, yet quality 9 hole golf course near Olympia. I've heard that the ideal number of holes for golfers with mild levels of interest is about 14 holes. You get enough swings in to enjoy the course but don't get tired, plus it wouldn't require an all-day commitment, especially if you are hitting behind a slow group. Slow golf groups are more the norm than the exception for weekend of 18 hole golf. I always find it funny when amateur golfers line up their shot, take a few practice swings, then hit a grounder into the forest. Why don't we all save some time and limit our swing prep to 5 seconds? I'm sure for the vast majority of golfers this would not affect scores. Plus, it would keep things moving.
Delphi's 9 hole course is a perfect option for a quick round of golf. You only need to carry a few clubs with you and you get some exercise walking the course. Also, each hole is surprisingly unique. Most of the other 9 hole courses that I have tried were designed with efficiency, meaning that all the holes seemed alike, similar to how a subdivision uses the same model for every home.
